Landscape Team Member

Position Overview

The landscape maintenance team member performs a variety of tasks assigned by the team leader. The landscape team member engages in the following activities with supervision from the team leader. Lawn maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, etc.), weeding, pruning, plant installation and care, hardscape installation (concrete paver and natural stone pavements, retaining walls and other elements), material movement.

Responsibilities

  1. Plant installation (transport, soil amendments, placement, etc.).

  2. Performs a wide variety of horticultural tasks to ensure an attractive landscape and an optimal level of plant health, including weed control, certain perennial cultural practices, pruning, mowing, trimming, edging and other routine lawn-care activities (operation of lawn maintenance equipment).

  3. Material movement throughout jobsites including wheelbarrow, ball cart, tarps and other tools.

  4. Uses hand tools including shovels, picks, rakes, etc. to dig holes for plant and hardscape elements, lawn grading, seed/sod installation and related activities.

  5. Performs other related tasks to aid in the construction and maintenance of softscape and hardscape projects.

  6. Safely operates and maintains assigned equipment; notifies team leader of any necessary repairs.

  7. Aids in maintaining clean and safe jobsite; clean up and walk through to ensure all tasks are completed and accounts for all company equipment assigned to team.

  8. Maintains professional image at all times and provides polite responses / interactions with clients.

  9. Reports to work at required time effectively listen and perform assignments from team leader. May assist in equipment loading and unloading.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED is preferred but not required. One year of experience is preferred but not required.

  • Candidate must be able to read and write.

  • Some knowledge of installation and maintenance practices including pruning, weed control, lawn maintenance, plant installation, hardscape installation, etc. is preferred but not required.

  • Reliable transportation to shop and assigned jobsite, if applicable.

  • Submit to drug test and background check.

Certifications

This position requires that the individual become certified within one year of employment as follows:

  • Ohio Nursery & Landscaping Association Certification (OCNT); or NALP Landscape Industry Certified

  • Ohio Driver's License and insurable with company's agent. 

  • First aid / cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
